PASE

Complete Domain Awareness

The PASE platform is a force multiplier that changes the game in securing national maritime borders.

Over-the-Horizon Radar Platform Enables Comprehensive Visibility and Intelligence

Maerospace has taken 25+ years of research by the Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC) and a top three international defense contractor and commercialized it into a 4th generation, market-leading, long-range maritime radar platform.

The PASE™ platform is based on High Frequency Surface Wave Radar (HFSWR) technology that gives enforcement agencies real-time, persistent surveillance coverage of their nation’s 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

The platform is a customer-approved, field-proven, cost-effective solution that is deployed world-wide and can act as a stand-alone or complementary tool for monitoring and neutralizing multiple economic, environmental, and human threats.

Unparalleled Performance

  • Coverage extends from a minimum range of 40 km (20 NM) to an instrumented range of at least 400 km (220 NM) over a sector of 120 degrees
  • Non-interference and non-protected basis minimize interference by automatically adapting frequencies
  • Dynamic Spectrum Management ensures robust and resilient operation in the highly congested HF band.
  • Simultaneous transmission on two frequencies without being impacted by spectrum users thereby avoiding jamming signal degradation
  • Frequency Diversity enables the system to simultaneously detect large vessels at long range and smaller vessels at closer ranges
  • Best frequency and bandwidth of operation optimizes signal based on local spectral measurements
  • Continuous detection of external frequency user within the bandwidth of operation and can automatically select a different setting or cease transmission until channel availability
  • Safeguards ensure radar will not operate in specified, user-defined prohibited bands

Tracking, Identification, and Predictive Assessment

  • Simultaneously tracks multiple vessel types and sizes across various ranges.
  • Vessels are then identified and tracked while their threat level is continuously assessed.
  • AI-driven analytics predicts threats before they materialize.
  • Secured integration with C2 and C4i systems automate the alert and response chain.

Preemptive and Cost-Effective Response

  • Specific vessel and threat assessment information is delivered to enforcement authorities in the shortest amount of time.
  • At that time, the right size, number, and type of response can be deployed as a proportional response.
  • Perceived threats can be headed off by a simple warning all the way to sending planes, ships, drones, etc. but the minimal number of vessels needed is now known.
  • Nations are able to preemptively neutralize any threat as a focused interdiction instead of relying on costly patrols that may not discover an incident.

Minimal Site Requirements

  • The land-based system comprises a single site with co-located Transmit and Receive sub-systems and operates in monostatic mode
  • Radar electronics are deployed in a modified ISO container with integrated HVAC, power distribution, internal cabling, and comm with options for wired, diesel, and green power options
  • Patented “Virtual Aperture Array” (VAA) technology allows the system to occupy a site that requires half the ocean frontage compared to other systems with similar performance.
  • The radar can be configured in a standard installation (700m of ocean frontage) or a compact installation (350m of ocean frontage)
  • VAA improves vessel detection and tracking capability ensuring performance levels are maintained smaller installations in land restricted areas
